At a glance
- Review the service, price, timing and any recurring charges before agreeing to an order.
- Remote access and family sharing require authorization. Paid support is practical assistance, not a guarantee that every problem can be fixed.
- Cancellation and refund terms are set out separately, and your mandatory consumer rights always remain available.
This overview is a reading aid. The full policy below explains the details and qualifications.
1. About TechBuds and these terms
TechBuds Inc., operating as TechBuds, provides technology assistance and related account services through techbuds.ca and its apps. References to we, us and our mean TechBuds Inc.; you means the person using or purchasing the relevant service. Our business mailing address is 6774 145A Street, Surrey, BC, Canada. Contact Malik at malik@techbuds.ca or 778-581-9070 about an order, these terms or a service concern.
Read these terms with the particular quote, booking confirmation, plan description and order information presented to you. Those documents identify the service, agreed charges and arrangements for your transaction. Our Refund & Cancellation Policy forms part of the service terms. Our Privacy Policy explains personal-information handling and does not replace separate permissions required for optional features.
A purchase agreement is formed through the applicable offer and acceptance process, including the order details you approve. Creating a support request by itself does not authorize unspecified charges. Where an order-specific promise is more favourable to you, we will honour it. Mandatory law prevails over inconsistent wording in any of these documents.
These published terms do not retrospectively remove rights or promises attached to an earlier purchase. General website information is an invitation to enquire about services; availability, suitability and the particular scope must be confirmed for your order. Save your quote, confirmation and a copy of the applicable policies.
2. Account use and authority to request help
Provide accurate information needed for the service and keep your account contact details up to date. Use your own account and protect its sign-in details. Tell us promptly if you believe an account or support connection has been misused. We will not treat every disputed activity as authorized solely because it came from your account; we may investigate the circumstances.
You must have authority to approve work on a device, network, account or data. An employer-owned device may require the employer's permission. A family relationship, shared address or payment for a membership does not by itself authorize access to another person's account, location, health information or files.
If you are below the age of majority or cannot enter the relevant agreement independently, a parent, guardian or other legally authorized person must arrange paid services where required. A representative may act only within their actual authority. TechBuds may ask for reasonable confirmation of authority and may decline work while an ownership or permission dispute remains unresolved.
Do not share account credentials with a helper. Use the available invitations and permissions instead. Some permissions allow a helper to see support history or take account actions; review the scope before accepting an invitation or granting access.
3. Support scope and service expectations
TechBuds offers assistance with everyday technology, including computers, phones, Wi-Fi, printers, account setup, troubleshooting and guidance. Support may be provided remotely, by telephone or during a scheduled home visit. The specific tasks, service mode and charging basis depend on the order you approve.
We will use reasonable care and skill in providing the agreed assistance, explain material findings in understandable terms, and seek approval before extending paid work beyond the agreed scope. Troubleshooting is work even where the eventual diagnosis identifies a hardware fault, a third-party outage, unsupported software or a problem requiring another specialist.
No service description is a promise that every device can be repaired, every file recovered, every scam prevented or every issue resolved in a fixed time. Any specific guarantee must be stated in the particular offer. This qualification does not excuse a failure to provide the service we agreed to provide with reasonable care or remove remedies available by law.
We may recommend replacement equipment, a manufacturer, an internet provider or another specialist. You remain free to accept or decline a recommendation. Software licences, hardware, third-party subscriptions, parts and services are not included unless expressly listed in your quote or plan.
4. Quotes, prices, taxes and payment timing
Prices are in Canadian dollars unless your order expressly states another currency. The current service and membership pages describe advertised pricing; your order or checkout identifies the applicable amount, included time, discount and taxes. A quote based on limited information may need revision after diagnosis. We will explain and seek agreement to a material change before performing additional chargeable work.
Remote support that requires payment is prepaid before the session begins. Home visits are paid on arrival through the agreed payment arrangement. Included membership assistance is subject to the plan's allowance and eligibility. A support request is not confirmation that a paid task is included in your membership.
Where a minimum service period or additional-time rate applies, it must be disclosed with the service. Once authorized work starts, the agreed minimum or fixed charge can apply even if the issue is resolved earlier. Additional time is chargeable only where needed and approved; we will not turn a short request into an open-ended authorization to charge your card.
Stripe processes online card payments. You authorize the particular transaction or recurring subscription shown at checkout, not unrelated future purchases. A payment failure may delay service or paid access. If a displayed amount appears wrong, stop before confirming and contact us so we can review the order.
The specific service arrangement should identify the supply date or scheduling arrangement and provide the information required for that transaction. Keep the confirmation and receipt. If you do not receive the relevant order information, contact us; doing so does not extend or waive a statutory cancellation deadline.
5. Appointments and home visits
A requested appointment is subject to confirmation. Provide a working contact method, an accurate service address when needed, and information about access or accessibility requirements. Tell us as soon as possible if the problem changes, the device is unavailable or you need to reschedule.
For a home visit, an authorized adult must be available to approve access and work where required. Provide a reasonably safe working environment and let us know about conditions relevant to the visit. We may pause or decline a visit because of a genuine safety issue, lack of permission or circumstances preventing the agreed work. The financial consequences are governed by the actual work authorized and our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
If TechBuds needs to change an appointment, we will contact you to arrange another time or discuss cancellation. A delay does not automatically authorize substitution of a different paid service. No travel charge, missed-appointment penalty or cancellation fee is created simply by these general terms.
6. Device access, backups and remote sessions
Keep a current backup of important information where practicable, and tell us before work begins if the device holds the only copy or if a backup is unavailable. Some actions, such as a reset, operating-system installation or storage repair, can change settings or affect data. We will discuss a proposed action with a material data-loss risk and seek authorization before proceeding. A backup recommendation is not a release of responsibility for our own work.
You choose whether to start screen sharing or approve remote control. Remote-support software may require a download, access permission or session code. Only use connection instructions associated with your actual TechBuds request. A membership never gives blanket permission for unattended access or for access to every device you own.
Close private content and unrelated applications, review the screen being shared, and use the available controls to pause or end access. You must enter passwords or verification codes yourself into the appropriate legitimate service; do not provide them to TechBuds staff or send them through chat. Tell the technician when sharing must be paused.
Support may involve third-party software, including TeamViewer or Splashtop, with its own licence and operating requirements. We will not obtain your consent to session recording solely through these terms. Keep your own devices and software appropriately licensed, and do not request that we defeat security controls or another person's access restrictions.
7. Tech Help and Family Care memberships
Current membership offerings are monthly subscriptions. Before subscribing, review the selected plan, monthly price, applicable tax, included benefits, usage allowances and any device requirements. The subscription renews monthly and charges the authorized payment method until renewal is cancelled. It is not a lifetime purchase.
You may cancel renewal at any time, before or after a renewal date, without a cancellation fee or penalty. Use the plan controls in Plans & billing, or contact us if you cannot access them. For ordinary cancellation of a monthly plan, benefits remain available through the paid period and unused time is not automatically refunded. Other refund and statutory rights remain available under the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Upgrades can take effect immediately and generate a prorated charge. Downgrades are scheduled for renewal in the current billing flow. Review the change confirmation and contact us before proceeding if its financial effect is unclear. Changing, cancelling or resuming one subscription does not necessarily alter a separate subscription.
Tech Help memberships may include a particular level of Family Care. Standalone Family Care purchases have their own billing. Check existing entitlements before buying another plan; if you believe you have duplicate or unnecessary billing, ask us to review it. A bundle does not automatically transfer a subscription from another provider or promise refunds for past independent purchases.
Quick-call, safety-check, family-member, safe-place and history allowances depend on the plan. Shared allowances apply across the eligible household where described. Unlimited benefits are for ordinary personal or household use of the named feature, not resale, automated bulk use or an unlimited number of paid home visits. We will explain a material fair-use concern and available options rather than impose an undisclosed extra charge.
An advertised feature may require a compatible device, supported platform, permission or active connection. Review those requirements before purchase. If we cannot supply a material benefit represented as included, contact us about a remedy; general availability wording is not a substitute for delivering the plan sold.
8. Family Care and wellness limitations
Family Care supports voluntary connections, location sharing, check-ins, safe-place notifications and optional wellness information. Use it only with valid authority and the relevant person's permission. Do not use it for covert surveillance, coercive control, stalking, employment monitoring without lawful authorization, or any unlawful purpose.
Sharing is controlled by the connection and selected categories. Review outgoing permissions when inviting someone or accepting an invitation. The person sharing may pause or revoke access, and no purchaser is entitled to override another person's permissions solely because they pay for a plan.
Locations, battery indicators and wellness readings can be delayed, stale, missing or inaccurate. A device can lose power, connectivity, background permission or access to a health source. Alerts depend on those systems and on the recipient receiving and noticing them. An absence of an alert does not establish that a person is safe or that a device is functioning.
Family Care, SOS/check-in features and Tech Health are not emergency dispatch, medical monitoring, diagnosis or treatment. Tech Health concerns technology guidance and account/device checks. Do not rely on any of these features as a substitute for direct contact or a care plan. For an emergency, contact emergency services directly; sending a family alert does not mean TechBuds or emergency responders are monitoring it.
9. Scam checks, Caller Checker and Subscription Checker
Scam and caller assessments use available signals, third-party information and, where configured, automated or AI-assisted analysis. A result can be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. It is guidance for further assessment, not proof of identity, a safety guarantee, financial advice or a commitment to recover stolen funds. Ask for human help where the consequences of an error are significant.
Subscription Checker uses an optional Plaid connection to identify recurring outgoing transactions and estimate costs. It does not guarantee detection of every subscription, provide a complete financial record, cancel merchant contracts, dispute payments on your behalf or authorize TechBuds to move money. Confirm amounts and cancellation steps directly with the bank or merchant.
Only upload or connect information you have authority to use. Follow the privacy notices for these features and remove unnecessary sensitive information from screenshots and messages. Permission for a scam check does not grant access to an entire email inbox or bank account.
10. Your content, our materials and acceptable use
You retain rights in information and files you provide. You give TechBuds the limited permission needed to receive, store, display, transmit and process that content to deliver the requested service, maintain associated records and meet lawful obligations. This does not transfer ownership of your personal files or authorize their use in advertising. Privacy and optional-feature permissions continue to apply.
TechBuds branding, website materials and original guides belong to TechBuds or their respective licensors. You may use guides supplied to you for their intended personal or household support purpose and keep a personal copy of these policies. Do not misrepresent another party's work as your own, resell restricted material or imply an endorsement that has not been given.
Do not misuse the service to access accounts without authority, transmit malicious code, exploit vulnerabilities, overload systems, evade plan controls, threaten people or submit unlawful material. Reporting a problem, making an honest review or exercising a consumer right is not misuse. We do not prohibit truthful reviews or require you to withdraw one to obtain a remedy.
11. Availability, responsibility and service interruptions
We may need to maintain, secure or update the website and apps. Internet access, device compatibility, provider outages and events outside our reasonable control can affect availability. We will take reasonable steps appropriate to the circumstances to restore affected services and communicate a material disruption. If paid services cannot be supplied, the applicable cancellation and refund rights remain available.
TechBuds is responsible for its own obligations and for matters for which the law makes it responsible. We do not promise the independent performance of your bank, internet provider, device manufacturer or other third party merely because we help you use their service. We will not use that distinction to avoid responsibility for our own advice or work where the law imposes it.
The nature and extent of any recoverable loss are determined by applicable law and the circumstances. These terms do not impose an arbitrary monetary cap on consumer claims, exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or require you to indemnify TechBuds for our own negligence. Reasonable precautions, timely reporting and cooperation can help both parties limit avoidable loss.
12. Suspension, account closure and surviving obligations
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address unauthorized activity, a security threat, unlawful conduct, serious misuse or unpaid charges. Where practicable, we will explain the issue and give an opportunity to resolve it. Urgent security action may occur first. A restriction does not itself forfeit money you are legally entitled to recover.
You can stop using optional features, cancel renewal and request account closure. These are separate actions: removing an app, disconnecting a bank or revoking sharing does not automatically cancel a paid plan. Contact us if you want several actions completed together. We will distinguish any necessary retained records from data that can be removed.
Provisions needed to address completed transactions, lawful record retention, intellectual-property rights or an existing dispute can continue after account closure. This does not allow additional recurring charges after effective cancellation or extend permissions for future optional tracking.
13. Changes to terms, concerns and applicable law
The version date identifies these terms. We may publish revised terms for future offers. Publication alone does not change a price or material obligation in an existing accepted order, and these terms do not grant us a general right to unilaterally worsen an existing subscription. Any change to an existing agreement must follow its applicable requirements and the law, including consent and notice where required.
For a dispute, contact malik@techbuds.ca or 778-581-9070 with the order details and the outcome you are seeking. We will review the relevant records and work with you toward a fair resolution. You are encouraged, but not required as a condition of your legal rights, to give us an opportunity to address the concern.
BC law and applicable Canadian federal law govern where they properly apply, without displacing mandatory protections in another applicable jurisdiction. You retain access to competent courts, tribunals, regulators and other lawful complaint channels. These terms do not require private arbitration, waive participation in a class proceeding, or prevent a payment dispute permitted by law.
If a provision is invalid, it applies only to the extent lawfully possible and the remaining provisions continue where they can operate independently. A failure to enforce a term on one occasion does not automatically waive it for every occasion. Nothing in this section diminishes a specific promise or mandatory right.
