At a glance
- Cancel or reschedule before service work begins without a TechBuds cancellation fee.
- Monthly membership renewal can be stopped at any time. Ordinary cancellation keeps access until the end of the paid period.
- Billing errors, undelivered services and statutory refund rights are reviewed separately from a simple change of mind.
This overview is a reading aid. The full policy below explains the details and qualifications.
1. Scope and priority of your rights
This policy applies to remote support, home visits, Tech Help memberships and standalone Family Care plans supplied by TechBuds Inc., operating as TechBuds. Our business mailing address is 6774 145A Street, Surrey, BC, Canada. Read this policy together with your quote, order confirmation and Terms of Service. It does not govern a purchase made directly from a separate device manufacturer, software vendor, bank or merchant.
Your mandatory consumer rights take priority. A more favourable refund promise expressly included in your TechBuds offer will be honoured. References to a paid period, authorized work or a minimum charge do not override a legal entitlement to cancellation or a full refund. This is not an all-sales-final policy.
2. How to cancel or request a refund
Email malik@techbuds.ca or call 778-581-9070. For a membership, you can also use the cancellation control in Plans & billing while signed in. Tell us which appointment, order or plan is involved, the email used for the purchase, what you want cancelled or corrected, and the reason if relevant. A brief explanation helps us assess a service problem or statutory request.
Keep a copy of a written request and any confirmation. You do not need to use a special TechBuds form or buy another service to request a remedy. If an account control fails or you cannot sign in, contact us directly. An internal review or a delayed acknowledgment does not postpone a legally effective cancellation notice.
For refunds, we may reasonably verify that you are the purchaser or an authorized representative and locate the transaction. Do not email full card details, card security codes, bank passwords or verification codes. A transaction date, amount and receipt reference are normally more useful.
3. Cancelling or rescheduling before work begins
You may cancel or request a different appointment time before the agreed service work begins without a TechBuds cancellation fee. Please give as much notice as you reasonably can so the time can be offered to another customer. This courtesy request is not a hidden notice deadline or penalty.
If you prepaid for remote assistance and no service work has begun, we will refund the unused service payment when you cancel, unless you freely choose to move it to a replacement appointment. Merely creating a support request, sending a payment link or making the booking is not chargeable troubleshooting under this policy.
Home visits use payment on arrival, so there is ordinarily no advance visit payment to refund. If TechBuds cannot attend or cannot supply the agreed service, you may choose a suitable rescheduled appointment or a refund of the amount paid for the undelivered service. We will not require you to accept credit in place of an available money refund.
A missed appointment or unsuccessful connection does not automatically create a penalty. If substantive work had already been separately approved and performed, we will explain that work and its agreed charge. Any separate third-party purchase must have been specifically approved and disclosed; it cannot be added after cancellation as a surprise fee.
4. Work already performed and changes of scope
When you authorize and receive a fixed-price service or a minimum period of support, the agreed charge can apply even if the task finishes early. Paid diagnostic time may still be valid work where the cause is a failed device, an external outage or an issue requiring a specialist. An unsuccessful outcome alone does not establish that no service was provided.
If you ask us to stop partway through, we will review the work authorized and performed, the agreed minimum or fixed price, and any unused prepaid service beyond that amount. We will explain the calculation and return an amount that is refundable under the agreement or law. We do not charge additional time you did not approve.
These rules concern properly supplied work. If we failed to perform the agreed service, charged for work not supplied or did not exercise the required care, the service-concern and legal-rights sections below apply. We will not use a minimum charge to retain money contrary to those rights.
5. If something went wrong with the service
Tell us what happened and what result you expected under the order. Useful information can include the request number, appointment date, agreed task, relevant messages and a description of the continuing problem. Share only information needed to investigate.
We will review whether the agreed service was delivered, what work was authorized, and whether a correction, further assistance, partial refund or full refund is appropriate under the agreement and applicable law. We will explain the proposed resolution. You are not obliged to buy additional work to have a complaint reviewed.
Where further assistance is an appropriate option, we will discuss its scope and any cost before arranging it. You do not lose an applicable refund entitlement simply because we offer another appointment. We do not require removal of an honest review, a confidentiality promise about a complaint or a waiver of unrelated legal rights as a standard condition of a refund.
Please report problems promptly so the relevant records and device condition can be assessed. This policy does not impose an artificial short reporting deadline that replaces a statutory limitation or cancellation period.
6. Monthly memberships and renewal cancellation
Tech Help and standalone Family Care memberships currently renew monthly. You can cancel renewal at any time, before or after a renewal date, without a cancellation charge. Use Plans & billing or contact us directly. Check that the relevant plan shows its cancellation or end-of-period status, especially if you have more than one subscription.
Ordinary cancellation stops the next renewal and leaves benefits available for the remainder of the period already paid for. We do not automatically prorate the unused days of that monthly period merely because you stop using the plan. Unused included calls, checks or other allowances are not converted to cash simply because renewal is cancelled.
This ordinary cancellation rule does not apply instead of a remedy for duplicate billing, unauthorized charges, a material service failure, an express refund offer or a statutory cancellation right. If your request concerns one of those circumstances, identify it so it can be reviewed separately. A change-of-mind rule cannot excuse an invalid charge.
Deleting the app, clearing browser storage, closing a bank connection, stopping Family Care sharing or not signing in does not cancel a subscription. Ask us to handle subscription cancellation as well if you request account closure. A person sharing your membership may lose the associated benefits when the paid entitlement ends, but their separate privacy choices continue to apply.
7. Upgrades, downgrades and bundled benefits
An upgrade may begin immediately and include a prorated charge. A downgrade in the current app is scheduled for the next renewal. A billing credit associated with a plan change is not necessarily a cash refund. Review the confirmation before agreeing, and contact us if the amount or effective date is unclear.
Some Tech Help plans include Family Care benefits. Before buying standalone Family Care, compare the entitlement already included in your account. If you believe two charges pay for the same service, we will review the subscriptions, purchase history and relevant dates. We do not require you to keep an accidental duplicate purchase without reviewing the circumstances.
Promotional offers are governed by the conditions and duration disclosed when accepted. A promotion does not reduce statutory rights. TechBuds will not invent a retroactive fee or reclaim a discount solely to penalize an otherwise permitted cancellation.
8. Duplicate, incorrect or unauthorized charges
If the same order appears twice, the amount differs from what you authorized, or a payment appears after an effective cancellation, contact us with the transaction date, amount and order reference. We will compare the billing records and correct an established error, including a refund where appropriate. A pending bank authorization may be distinct from a completed charge; we can help identify the difference.
If you do not recognize a charge or suspect your payment method was misused, also contact your payment provider promptly. Nothing in this policy prevents a lawful chargeback or other payment-dispute process. We may provide accurate order and service records to the processor to resolve a dispute, and will avoid issuing duplicate reimbursements for the same charge.
A dispute does not authorize retaliation, an undisclosed administrative fee or cancellation of unrelated rights. Any remaining amount claimed for valid work must be supported by the actual agreement and applicable law.
9. BC consumer cancellation rights
Consumer cancellation rights depend on how and when the agreement was made. For relevant BC distance sales, missing or inconsistent required disclosures can permit cancellation within seven days after receiving the contract. If the required copy is not provided within 15 days, cancellation may be available within 30 days of entering the contract. Non-delivery can also create cancellation rights after the applicable 30-day supply period, before delivery.
A service arranged for future performance or an agreement made in person away from the supplier's premises can have different rights. An in-home service is not automatically classified by its location alone. For qualifying direct sales, a ten-day cancellation right and other protections may apply. These examples are not an exhaustive statement of every remedy or deadline.
Where a BC statutory cancellation requires a service refund, we will comply with the applicable 15-day refund requirement and cancel the related future payments as required. If goods form part of a transaction, lawful return arrangements can affect the refund timing. We will not deduct processing fees from a refund that the law requires without deduction.
The rules changed on August 1, 2026. Rights associated with an earlier contract may differ. Use the regulator's guidance appropriate to your contract date or obtain advice about the particular transaction. You may give an effective cancellation notice in a manner allowed by law; no wording in this policy requires TechBuds to approve the exercise of a statutory right first.
10. Refund method, timing and confirmation
A money refund is normally returned through the original payment method and includes the applicable tax on the refunded amount. We will provide a confirmation or explain any issue preventing the normal method. We do not require acceptance of store credit when a money refund is due.
For a non-statutory refund under this policy, we aim to complete the review and initiate an approved refund promptly, normally within ten business days after receiving the information reasonably needed to identify and assess the request. If more information or time is needed, we will explain why. This administrative target never extends a shorter legal deadline.
After initiation, the card issuer or payment provider controls when the credit appears. Timing can vary by provider and payment method. If a confirmed refund is missing, contact us so we can trace it with the processor. We will not describe a refund as completed merely because a support request was opened.
Refunds for separately purchased goods or third-party services depend on the relevant transaction. If TechBuds itself is the supplier, we remain responsible for our own obligations; we cannot simply redirect a valid claim to a manufacturer. If you purchased directly from another merchant, contact that merchant for its cancellation or refund process.
11. Records, policy changes and further help
Keep your order details, receipts and correspondence. We retain the records needed to administer a refund, investigate an error and meet lawful business or accounting obligations, as explained in the Privacy Policy. A refund does not automatically delete an account or its entire service history.
The published version date identifies this policy. A later policy change will not remove a refund promise already attached to your purchase or reduce mandatory rights. Changes to an existing subscription must follow the applicable agreement and law; posting new wording alone is not permission to worsen it.
If you need help understanding or using this process, contact malik@techbuds.ca or 778-581-9070. You may also seek assistance from Consumer Protection BC, your payment provider or another appropriate advice or complaint service. Contacting us first is encouraged but is not a waiver of other available remedies.
